Family ForestDownload your DNA results from Ancestry
If you tested with AncestryDNA you can download your raw DNA data — the file the family archive's DNA vault reads. Ancestry keeps working exactly as before; you're taking a copy, not moving anything.
- Sign in and open DNA → your results summary.
- Open Settings on your DNA results page.
- Find Download Raw DNA Data (under test management / privacy).
- Enter your password — Ancestry emails you a confirmation link.
- Click the link in that email and the download starts: a small `.zip` file. Don't unzip it; the vault takes it as-is.
Your raw DNA file is sensitive — it's literally you. Family Forest stores it encrypted, only you (the kit's owner) can download or remove it, and only the computed shared-DNA matches are visible to family.
Then bring it to Family Forest
- Open your own page in the tree (avatar menu → My page in the tree).
- In the DNA panel, choose the file with Upload kit and confirm.
- Matches against other uploaded family kits compute automatically — as more relatives upload theirs, your match list grows.
