Family ForestCreating your account
You join with an invite link or a reunion code that a family admin gives you — on a card, a flyer, a Facebook event, or a QR code. You don't sign up on your own; the link is what lets you in.
From an invite link or reunion QR code
- Open the link in any web browser — on a computer or a phone. If you have a QR code, point your phone camera at it and tap the link that pops up.
- Pick a username and a password (at least 8 characters). If it was a personal invite, your name may already be filled in.
- Submit. Your account is created and you're signed in.
Accounts are always created in a web browser, not inside the mobile app. After your account exists, you can sign in to the app with the same username and password.
What happens automatically
The moment your account is created, your own family tree is created for you — you don't have to make one. It starts nearly empty; the whole shared family archive is still yours to browse.
Then get the app (optional but nicer on a phone)
On a phone, open the Get the app page (family-forest.com/get) to install the Android app or join the iPhone TestFlight. Sign in there with the account you just made.
